Erythrina indica, commonly known as the Indian Coral Tree has dark red to bright orange-red flowers in one-side dense racemes.
Mother has revealed its message to us and it is a most important one, Beginning of Realisation in Matter. Mother has commented, 'Matter responds to the Divine's influence'.
In the early days of Auroville, around 1970-1972, we planted this tree in the Matrimandir Nursery and it bloomed profusely. It also gave us one of the most humorous experiences for at a certain time of the year when its leaves had fallen and it suddenly burst into bloom it offered its liquid nectar to many species of birds, especially mynah birds, crows and others. So, around 5:00 a.m. we were awakened abruptly by the calls and conversations of all birds who had gathered for their morning beverage.
The chatting and calling and continued until approximately 10:00 in the morning when the sun and the intense heat turned the nectar to alcohol. Then we watched a sight we will never forget! As the birds continued to drink they became inebriated!! You could not imagine the site of these fellows laughing and swaying on the branches, almost falling off and often hanging upside down calling to each other in uproarious voices!
There are so many stories to be recounted but I believe this one is the most humorous of all.
